Still Lifes

Contemporary subjects in the vanitas tradition; "a still-life painting of a 17th-century Dutch genre containing symbols of death or change as a reminder of their inevitability." The skulls of extant species; humans, great apes, coyotes, and foxes, sit alongside extinct ones; fossils, dire wolves, and smilodons. Utilizing an historic format to make comments on the tumultuous present.
